Redneck Ex by Claire Croxton

With one twang of a banjo string, Summer Leigh Johnson's tidy, organized life in Barrow, Alaska is jolted back to the Ozarks when her coon-hunting, tobacco-chewing, bull-riding, redneck ex-husband asks for her help. She has two options: turn her back on him like he did to her eleven years ago, or help. Burdened with the curse of every southern woman--What Would Mama Do?--she goes to his aid. And what does she find? The man she fell in love with all those years ago and a second chance at love and family. The last time she gave her heart to Dwight, he flicked it aside like an empty can of Skoal. This time he's cradling it as gently as he would a speckled pup. It will take a lot more than Dwight's southern charm and good looks to convince Summer to stay.

The things we do for family! Summer Leigh Johnson, an anthropologist who has been hiding out in Alaska safely tucked away from the man who broke her heart years ago, is roped into helping her ex-husband after he is injured. She gets a call from the hospital being his next of kin even though she is the first of five ex wives. He’s near death with an injury he sustained in Iraq. Will she go to his aid or turn her back on him?

The fun begins. It's a fun, lovely story about second chances and the journey that awaits if you’ll only take that first step.

Their journey is written cleverly by Claire Croxton throwing twists and turns in and will leave you guessing to the last page what happens to most important characters in this book. It’s more than a romance novel, there’s a mystery afoot too.

You will laugh and even cry as you read this book about the heroine’s redneck ex. The book is filled with snarky humor but also tender and passionate love. I have to give this book five stars.
