The Vampire King (The Kings 1) by Heather Killough-Walden

Summary:
It was immediate for Roman. In three thousand years, he’d never lost control of his emotions, or his heart. But the moment he laid eyes on Evelynne Farrow, he knew she was the woman who haunted his dreams. And everything changed.

Everything.

Evie Farrow has always loved a good vampire romance. In fact, she makes a living writing them. While sitting in a coffee shop and working on her next mega-hot book, Evie is approached by a tall, dark, and handsome man who could have been pulled directly from one of her novels.

Unbeknownst to her, Roman D’Angelo is exactly what he appears to be – a vampire, and not just any vampire, but the king of vampires.

Unfortunately, while Roman is both ancient and invulnerable, Evie is flesh and blood. Just as Roman decides that he and Evie have a date with destiny, for reasons of their own, an ancient god and a homicidal vampire take an equally strong interest in her. To make things more complicated, there’s something very special about Evie. Something not quite human.

Can Roman fight off the incredible forces that would have Evie as their own long enough to win her heart, or will destiny betray him, and destroy everything he has ever dreamed of?

“Lalura had told him about her vision. Thirteen kings on a chess board – and thirteen queens….”

Heather Killough-Walden has an exciting new series out! The first story, The Vampire King

Power…it’s aura is strong and radiant, shimmering all around him….Roman D’Angelo… everything about him screams Alpha Ruler! Ancient, wise, proud, and terribly alone …until Evelynne Grace Farrow…Evie to those close to her.

She is simply beautiful…inside and out. Always doing the ‘right’ things whether for her family, friends, helpless animals. She has a sweet heart. And she is as alone as Roman….

He desires her more than precious life itself and she falls hard for the feared king… it was his eyes….

Never mind that he is Vampire… their king….never mind that they truly exist outside of her imagination…never mind that an entire world of the supernatural has opened up and swallowed her whole…. Were’s and Witches do exist and the world that she has known has been shaken to its very foundation…

Evie is now a believer…and very much in love with a vampire…as he is with her.

But there is always a snake in the garden, isn’t there? Or snakes….lol

Enter a mad vampire, bent on revenge, with a hatred that could topple the vampire world and an ancient god…. Seems Evie is special in her own right…..and very tasty..

We know how powerful evil is…good will have to be very, very good to prevail against these odds…

If this isn’t enough to pique your interest…. Did I tell you about the very hot Were’s and the uhmm, yummm Vamps? Oh yeah …Heather is so clever…weaving a tale to make your toes curl…in a good way. Oh and the blazing hot lovemaking doesn’t hurt either…

All of this makes me very eager for the next installment of what I know will be a huge hit for Heather. You must have this book in your library! I promise you will not be disappointed!

I give it 5 stars!

I read The vampire King and completely agree with your 5 stars. The book has substance. It's a novel that you wouldn't think of skipping a page, as opposed to so many that seem to be made for skimming. Roman seems to have sucked up every bit of wisdom offered for 3000 years and uses it wisely. But he also has 3000 years of passion built up. I liked both main characters a lot. There is something really special about them, as well as the supporting cast, and the novel in general.
